On the Sitec pitch on Sunday the girls gave an impressive display of hockey, especially in the first half against a robust and determined Warwick Hockey Club side.
Sophie Hamilton opened the scoring at a penalty corner with a well worked move and a delightful flick past the keeper. This unleashed us and with some excellent passing we tore into the opposition. There were many chances in the next period of the game and every time one fell to Anna von Keller she slotted the ball into the net, scoring her second hat-trick in the competition.
At half time the game was effectively won with a four-goal cushion. That said, Warwick continued to be competitive and continued to try and break down our defensive shape. This they could not manage and they only really threatened on the break. Sophie Hamilton scored another goal to take the score to 5-0. At this point the umpiring got very interesting. One umpire decided to affect the game by consistently penalising our best player. To be fair, some decisions were correct but there were also some that were not! This combined with rather partisan support for Warwick, lead to a consolation goal for them which was treated like a winning goal!
The last act of the game was completed by the Team Bath Buccs girls. After a great series of passing the girls forced a penalty corner. Sophie Hamilton completed her hat-trick converting a good drag flick silencing the Warwick supporters.
We play Old Loughtonians in the Semi-Final at Home.
