AIMS AND GOALS
The concept of the Junior Academy is to allow all young aspiring hockey players to learn the game in an enjoyable and safe environment. The aims of the Academy are for young players to:
1. Have fun.
2. Develop their motor skills and coordination.
3. Develop their individual skills.
4. Develop as part of a team.
As the players rise through the Club, and in particular at U16 and U18 level, the competition increases and the culture will reflect that of the Senior Club where the Club Code applies, which you can view at:
HOW TO PLAY

AGE GROUP CAPPING - 2017 SEASON - ALL PARENTS PLEASE NOTE
The Club has taken the decision, reluctantly, to introduce capping this season in specific Age Groups where numbers are particularly high and where we could not otherwise deliver a safe and effective coaching environment. Details of which age groups this applies to will be communicated separately, but all current members should now take the opportunity to re-register with the Club. If this is not done by Friday 8 September, then players may subsequently be subject to capping and not able to re-join the Club. We regret this decision but we do currently have some 60 new junior applicants wanting to join the Club.
There are 3 types of membership for Junior players at TBBHC:
i. Junior Academy Membership: £110 per season*. The all encompassing membership category for juniors not regularly involved in a Senior team. Allows attendance at all junior training and games where selected and includes a voucher for a Junior Academy polo shirt (U12 players and below only). Junior academy players are permitted to play up to 5 games at senior level in any one season for a match fee of £10 per game.
ii. U18 Full Membership: an additional £98 per season** (on top of the £110 JA fee). Suitable for all U18s playing regular senior hockey. Players are entitled to attend the appropriate Junior Academy & senior training sessions as well as play unlimited junior & Senior League matches.
iii. U18 Half Membership: an additional £66 per season** (on top of the £110 JA fee). For U18 members who are playing senior hockey but unable to commit to playing every weekend due to other commitments such as school sport and other extra curricular activities. Players can participate in the appropriate Junior training, unlimited Junior matches as well as up to 10 Senior League matches.
*Note: for those families that already have 2 children in the Junior Academy, a third child can join for free.
**Note: any match fees due will be deducted from an U18 Full or Half Member rate if the player upgrades membership during the season. Similarly, if a player takes up Full membership several games into the season, a rebate can also be applied (£6 per match missed).
We are keen for Junior players to play senior hockey as we think it really brings their game on, but we appreciate its not for everyone. More details of how the Junior pathway into Senior Hockey works can be found at:
If you have any questions about the U18 Membership, please contact the Director of Hockey Heber Ackland on firstname.lastname@example.org
HOW TO REGISTER
Before your child joins the Club, they need to be registered. The registration process is done via the website - simply go to the front page and click the 'Join Us' button. Enter the name of your child and the email address you wish us to use to contact them and select 'Junior Hockey' for the category of hockey (if you wish also to register for an U18 membership please make a note of this in the free text section). You will receive an automated email in return asking you to set up a username and password, completing additional information and accepting the Club's Ts&Cs.
Importantly, this includes an option to not have your child's photos published on the Club website outside the Members only section. This is mainly to prevent people using the website to trace children inappropriately.
In order to monitor your account, log into the website using your username and password (top right) and then click on My profile and My Account from which you will be able to see all the information about your child and their membership. If you are comfortable to do so, please also upload a headshot photo of you child on the profile, this will only be visible to members. Then youre done!
If you have any questions or concerns about the registration process, please contact the Junior Academy Membership Secretary, Jo McDermid on: email@example.com

When you apply for your child to be registered to the Club, you have an option to not have your child's photos published on the Club website outside the Members only section. This is mainly to prevent people using the website to trace children inappropriately. Please make sure you let us know if you dont want picture of your children published outside the members only section.
As parents, you are responsible for getting your children safely to and from the hockey pitches for training and matches, whether at home or away. You should also ensure that your children have been to the toilet before they come to training so that they do not have to leave the pitches during training. It is your responsbility as a parent to ensure that your child is supervised at any time whilst not on the playing surface. Coaches are not permitted to take children to the toilet during a training session.
In accordance with Rule 8.8 of the EH Regulations, it is strongly advised that children wear shin guards and mouthguards (gumshields).
Bullying and Harassment
Any potential concerns about bullying or harassment should be raised to the Team Manager or Lead Coach and, if not resolved at the time, should be referred to the Club's Welfare Officer without delay.
Any questions on Safeguarding or on any aspects of your child's Welfare can be addressed to the Club Welfare Officer, Rachael Webb on: Rachael@sheylorsbarn.com
Junior Academy Dress Code
To ensure we present the same image to all members of the junior academy at training sessions and representing the club, we ask that all members wear club clothing.
We actively encourage that school sports clothing with distinctive branding, badges, and distinctive colours of schools should not to be worn to training or when representing the club at any time.
New members are given flexibility and time in acquiring the relevant clothing which new member’s, current and past members can purchase club items. We are introducing a Unisex long sleeve junior Training Top with the Buccanneers logo and #fastfearlessfun on the arm which is appropriate for younger / smaller juniors up to age 14. For older / bigger juniors, the small and medium version of the Mens / Ladies Training Tops would be ideal. These can be found at John Moore Sports on line at http://www.johnmooresports.co.uk/clubwear-two/bath-buccaneers-hockey-club.html
