AIMS AND GOALS
The concept of the Junior Academy is to allow all young aspiring hockey players to learn the game in an enjoyable and safe environment. The aims of the Academy are for young players to:
1. Have fun.
2. Develop their motor skills and coordination.
3. Develop their individual skills.
4. Develop as part of a team.
As the players rise through the Club, and in particular at U16 and U18 level, the competition increases and the culture will reflect that of the Senior Club where the Club Code applies, which you can view at:
HOW TO PLAY
Full details of Teams and how the Junior Academy and Junior Hockey works can be found here:
AGE GROUP CAPPING
The Club sometimes needs to operate numbers caps in specific Age Groups where numbers are particularly high and where we could not otherwise deliver a safe and effective coaching environment. Details of which age groups this applies to will be communicated separately but all current members should renew their membership by 15 Sep annually or other players on the waiting list may take their place.
Please do not just turn up to the relevant training session if you are new to the club as there may not be room to accomodate your child. Please simply go to the front page and click the 'Join Us' button and fill in the relevant details and the junior membership will come back to you with all the information you need and when to come along for a trial session.
Full details of Junior Membership options can be found here:
We are keen for Junior players to play senior hockey as we think it really brings their game on, but we appreciate its not for everyone. More details of how the Junior pathway into Senior Hockey works can be found at:
HOW TO REGISTER
Before your child joins the Club, they need to be registered. The registration process is done via the website - simply go to the front page and click the 'Join Us' button. Enter the name of your child and the email address you wish us to use to contact them and select 'Junior Hockey' for the category of hockey (if you wish also to register your child as an U18 Member to play senior hockey as well please make a note of this in the free text section). You will receive an automated email in return asking you to set up a username and password, completing additional information and accepting the Club's Ts&Cs.
Importantly, this includes an option to not have your child's photos published on the Club website outside the Members only section. This is mainly to prevent people using the website to trace children inappropriately.
In order to monitor your account, log into the website using your username and password (top right) and then click on My profile and My Account from which you will be able to see all the information about your child and their membership. If you are comfortable to do so, please also upload a headshot photo of you child on the profile, this will only be visible to members. Then youre done!
For those wishing to re-register for the new season, you will receive an annual re-registration email around mid August each year explaining the process for re-registering, de-registering or suspending membership.
If you have any questions or concerns about the registration process, please contact the Junior Academy Membership Secretary, Jo McDermid on: firstname.lastname@example.org

If you want to get involved in the Junior Academy or any aspect of the Club, we would love to have your support. Let any of the Managers or Coaches know and they will give you more information about how you can help. Alternatively, contact the Director of the Junior Academy Toby Blong.
With over 450 Junior members, TBBHC takes the care and wellbeing of young people extremely seriously and complies with the England Hockey Safeguarding 'SAFE D' policies. All Managers and Coaches for Junior teams are DBS checked. Full details of the SafeD policy and associated guidance can be found by clicking on the picture below.
Photographs and Video
When you apply for your child to be registered to the Club, you have an option to not have your child's photos published on the Club website outside the Members only section. This is mainly to prevent people using the website to trace children inappropriately. Please make sure you let us know if you dont want picture of your children published outside the members only section. Please also let us know if you do not wish videos or photographys to be published on the Club's Soclal Media sites - Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
As parents, you are responsible for getting your children safely to and from the hockey pitches for training and matches, whether at home or away. You should also ensure that your children have been to the toilet before they come to training so that they do not have to leave the pitches during training. It is your responsbility as a parent to ensure that your child is supervised at any time whilst not on the playing surface.
Changing Room Policy for Juniors Playing in Adult Teams
Juniors aged 13 years and above can be selected to play in Senior Teams. As such they will share changing facilities with adult team members at home and away fixtures. If a parent/guardian of an under 18 player does not wish their child to change with the adult players in the team then their parent/guardian must inform the Senior Team Manager. The under 18 must then be given the opportunity to change separately to the adult members of the team. By authorising juniors to play in adult teams, parents and/or guardians are agreeing to the Changing Room Policy. The safe enforcement of the Changing Room Policy will require good and continued communication between the parents/guardians, the Senior Team Manager and the under 18 player.
All parties should be mindful that what is appropriate for a 17 year old, may not be appropriate for a 13 year old.
If any junior, Senior Team Manager or parent/guardian has any concerns about the above policy, please do not hesitate to contact the Child Welfare Officer, Rachael Webb on: email@example.com
In accordance with Rule 8.8 of the EH Regulations, it is advised that children wear shin guards and mouthguards (gumshields).
Bullying and Harassment
Any potential concerns about bullying or harassment should be raised to the Team Manager or Lead Coach and, if not resolved at the time, should be referred to the Club's Welfare Officer without delay.
Any questions on Safeguarding or on any aspects of your child's Welfare can be addressed to the Club Welfare Officer, Rachael Webb on: Rachael@sheylorsbarn.com
Junior Academy Dress Code
To ensure we present the same image to all members of the junior academy at training sessions and representing the club, we ask that Junior Academy members wear club clothing. New members are given flexibility and time in acquiring the relevant clothing which new member’s, current and past members can purchase club items. We are introducing a Unisex long sleeve junior Training Top with the Buccanneers logo and #fastfearlessfun on the arm which is appropriate for younger / smaller juniors up to age 14. For older / bigger juniors, the small and medium version of the Mens / Ladies Training Tops would be ideal. These can be found at John Moore Sports on line at http://www.johnmooresports.co.uk/clubwear-two/bath-buccaneers-hockey-club.html
