Player Behaviour Policy

Posted by Heber Ackland on 23 September 2014

Dear Buccaneers,

The West Leagues have issued a Player Behaviour Policy for 2014 which covers the actions / card escalation that umpires will take following for the following:

  • Swearing
  • Dissent & Verbal Abuse
  • Persistent Questioning of Umpires
  • Surrounding Umpires
  • Appealing
  • Urinating pitchside (ie not urinating pitch side!)

You can find the guidance at: Player Behaviour

This policy applies to both the Mens and Ladies West Leagues and is in accordance with the England Hockey Code of Ethics.

Please ensure that your not caught out on any of the above and uphold the Buccaneers spirit - remember Fast, Fearless, Fun.  But no fights!

Remember while you dont have to like all of their decisions, Umpires are volunteers without whom the game cannot be played.  As a Club, we are very short of officials for Club matches so we need to be supportive of our umpires to ensure they want to do the job or they will simply stop turning up.  So, for TBB 2014/15 is 'Hug an Umpire' season!  If you dont fancy the hug, then a smile, a hello, a handshake or a chat in the bar after the match will do just as well.

Thanks in advance for taking this seriously.
