Membership Options 2018-19

Wrist Bands

Intro

The Club has approved the new membership rates for the 2018/19 season.  After freezing subs for last season, this year sees a 3% increase for most categories - the exception is for the Junior Academy where subs have been increased to £199 with substantial new benefits which are described below.  We believe our membership offer is of exceptional quality and value.

Key highlights:

  • we have retained the Special Offers for new Senior Members over the age of 22 years and players over 30 years old (male and female) coming 'Back to Hockey.'
  • we have included the option to play Senior Hockey for those aged 13 and over within the new Junior Academy fee.
  • students who pay in full before 1 Oct will receive a 15% discount.
  • we have introduced a new special rate called Final Year Student to encourage student members in their final year to keep playing for us while getting ready for their final exams - the membership rate reflects the fact they may need to miss some matches.
  • we are continuing with the special membership rates for Goalkeepers playing Senior Hockey to reflect the additional cost of goalkeeping kit.  (Junior Academy Goalkeepers in the U14 through U18 age groups will receive a 50% discount on their membership fees (ie. £199 becomes £100)).

Registration

In August each year, current members will receive an automated email asking them if they want to re-register for the new season.  You can either re-register or de-register by clicking a link.  If you re-register but wish to be in a different membership category to last season, please make sure you change your 'Preferred Membership Category' and contact your Membership Secretary, or you will be charged for the same membership category as last season.  All returning members must re-register by 15 September annually.

Payment

Once you have re-registered, you must ensure that you set up payment instructions on your My Account.

Full details about how to pay are here: How to Pay.

You must set up your direct debit payment instructions by 1 Oct annually (or 15 Sep for Junior Academy) OR paid in full by 31 Oct annually (or 15 Sep for Junior Academy - for JA members, both deadlines are the same) or you will be charged a higher fee and / or be barred from playing.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

There are 2 default membership categories when someone applies to join the Club or to renew their membership - if you are over 18, you will become a Full Senior Member, if you are under 18, you will become a Junior Academy member (this is the way the system works).  To take up one of the alternative memebrship categories please email your membership secretary IMMEDIATELY when you register to request the appropriate membership category.  The site allows 5 days for the membership type to be changed before allocating the chargeable rate to your account.

Other Adult Options:

  • Student Membership.  All Student members should ensure that they actively select the Student membership category or they will be automatically charged as a Full Member.
  • Half Senior Membership.  This is ideal for Club players who cannot commit to all League games but who still want to play League hockey during the season. This package allows players full access to training and social events and to play up to 10 games in any season.  This membership type is not suitable for those looking to play in Performance teams.  Please contact your Club Captain or Membership Secretary if you would like to take up this membership option.
  • Senior and Student Goalkeeper. Goalkeepers should indicate their preferred membership category so that it is not set as a default Senior Membership fee.
  • Social & Training Membership.  Our introductory membership for those new to hockey or only able to play on a casual basis.  Players are entitled to attend all training and social events and play up to 5 games in any one season.  Recommended for those looking to play on a social basis, this membership type is not suitable for those looking to play in the performance or development teams.
  • Life Member playing Membership.  Designated life members wishing to join as playing members should select the life membership rate. This entitles them to attend all train and play an unlimited amount of games.  A list of Life Members if available from the Club Secretary and is on the website.
  • Club Official and Non-playing members.  These categories are those volunteers and members of the club who hold a Management, Coaching or other Adminsitrative role (Club Official) or Parents of Junior players and people interested in supporting the Club (Non Playing) who are encouraged to join us.  When you complete registration please contact the relevant Membership Secretary (Junior Member Sec for anyone involved in or supporting the Junior Academy, Mens for male non playing members and Ladies for female non playing members) to advise you are a non-playing member or club supporter to avoid being asked to pay a membership fee.  Club Officials will receive a Team Bath Card giving them access to the STV.

Other Junior Options:

The Junior Academy membership covers not only training and playing for the Junior Academy, but for players aged 13 years and over, they are entitled to play Senior Hockey as well.  Junior players have the following additional options:

  • U18 Member. This membership category is designed for players who do not wish to be members of the Junior Academy but who do wish to play senior league hockey on weekends.  Additionally, Junior Academy members who wish to play senior hockey are also placed into this membership category.  U18 members will be selected for senior teams based on the club selection policy.
  • U14 - 18 Goalkeepers.  Junior goalkeepers in the U14 - 18 category in the Junior Academy or who are 13 years and over playing senior hockey are expected to provide their own goalkeeping kit so this category is designed to provide some re-compense for this.  For younger goalkeepers (up to U12 age group), the Club provides kit so they join as standard Junior Academy goalkeepers.
