Match Report

Buccs came into the game against a strong Clifton team, looking to put their opponents under pressure and force them into mistakes. However, within the first 10 minutes, a couple of well worked passages of play led to Clifton going 2-0 in front. As the half wore on, Buccs battled bravely, denying Clifton of many shooting opportunities - but two hard and precise short corners took their opponents into a 4-0 half-time lead. The half-time team talk focussed upon denying the opposition space through the middle of the pitch, defending narrow and trying to implement a half-court press to frustrate Clifton. This was largely successful, with a lot more of the play being closer to the halfway line, rather than around the Buccs D. Despite applying more pressure, Buccs struggled to get anything going in the attacking quarter and the Clifton goalie stayed untroubled throughout. 2 further Clifton goals, including one very good far post deflection, left the final score at 0-6, however the second half provided the team with a number of positives to take forward.

Player of match is young 12 year old Eve Deshon who really proved her worth after Jemima was injured so played the majority of the match ! Thank you for stepping up to U16s you were brilliant
