Sabres Held Again.
The morning started with breakfast at the Podimore Roundabout Little Chef. With two further trips to Exeter due this season, this Little Chef in the middle of nowhere may well end up becoming base camp... The B's arrived at Exeter University halfway through the 1's victory over Isca in the National League. Top job lads. Although Westy forgot to bring the Balls, so young Paddy; a fine young chap it must be said, was elected as B team spokesman to go and ask Jody for the 1st team practice balls so the B's could warm up without looking like a complete bunch of jokers. Naturally Jody's initial response was rather lost in translation a little but was somewhere along the lines of 'No', luckily once his charges had secured the victory he was much more accommodating. Cheers Jody, much appreciated!
The game itself was frankly a dull affair, largely uneventful, and one ultimately resigned to the record books now. After the game it was described as a 'Midfield Battle', in other words both keepers were largely spectators. On the stroke of half time a lapse in concentration allowed an Exeter forward to get away down the left and his cross found its way to a striker at the back post for an easy tap in. The second half continued in the same vein as the first and the B's finally grabbed an equaliser with Danny Smith firing home with 5 minutes to spare. The game was there for the taking and the result again leaves the B's smarting from two more dropped points as they were unable to put away their opposition.
It must also be noted that the game, originally designated for the Water Based pitch was rather disappointingly bumped down to the Sand Based pitch in order to accommodate a Wockey match. There was no parking at the venue and so the B's had to park at the bottom of the hill and walk up. After the game the showers were stone cold. Very poor show indeed. Hash tag First World Problems...
Big thank you to drivers; Tom Dennis, Alex Menezes, Paddy Gompels and Chris Witty.
In other news this week, Jonesy, Voutty, Gamble, Westy & Churchy flew the flag for the B's at the annual Buccs Quiz performing admirably. The quiz team name of 'Ken Dodd's dad's dog's dead' went down rather well with the dyslexic on the microphone... Many thanks to the B's very own Menez & Pars for organising another successful quiz night. The game marked the much anticipated return of the fantastic car game 'Babe Attack' (fun for all ages) with this week's winner being Westy. Lastly, a Domino's special offer on the way home made 4 players very happy indeed.
Next week the B's host newboys Plymouth University at the Sitec Arena in what shall surely be a more exciting spectacle.
