With the end of the season approaching, Team Bath Buccaneers arrived at Old Georgians knowing that leaving with 3 points would be vital in their hopes of reaching the playoffs. With Cardiff Met dropping points earlier in the day, a win would put Buccs top of the table with one game remaining. The match started in scintillating fashion with goals from Ben Stone and Peter Scott in the first 5 minutes. Buccs looked in complete control of the tie until a solo effort from James Tindall put the ball on a plate for Chris Shannon who made the score 2-1. After a period of pressure from the home side, Buccs managed to push through and grab 2 goals in quick succession, through Ben Stone and Will Hewer, with only 5 minutes left in the half. Although it seemed comfortable at the break with Buccs 4-1 up, a nervy start resulted in Georgians closing the gap once more and and making the score 4-2. However a quick reply from Peter Scott and another goal soon after from Lewis Jowett soon put the tie to bed and secured the vital 3 points for Buccs. A couple of consolation goals from Georgians in the last 5 minutes of the match was not enough to trouble the visitors and Buccs left Old Georgians the new table leaders going into the final match of the season versus Cheltenham. A win will secure their place in the playoffs with a chance to claim a premier league space for the 2017/18 season.
