The TBB Boys U18 squad continued their remarkable record of reaching yet another Quarter Final stage in the England Hockey National Clubs Cup competition - the 8th time we've gotten to this stage in the past 9 years - by seeing off a stubborn challenge from Teddington at the Sitec on Sunday. Having fallen behind within the first few minutes to a deflected shot from Teddington forward Ignacio Cookman that looped up over the despairing lunge of Buccs keeper Alex Witty, the U18s regrouped and set about breaking down the massed defence of the opposition. It took a little while before Calum Montgomery bundled in the equaliser and then not long after found himself in space to calmly slot the ball past the Teddington GK Alex Gilbert to put us 2-1. A ferocious Tom Salmon drag flick from a PC flashed inches over the bar as we tried to increase our lead but HT arrived with the score at 2-1. The second half was all about the heroics of the Teddington goalie as he saved four more Tom Salmon drag flicks and deflected other efforts away as we dominated possession and tried to close out the game. But it was not to be and while 2-1 was a narrow score line, Buccs were by far the more dominant team and all credit to Teddington for making a game if it right until the final whistle.
